Exit splash by Dave Guindon, evidently, is a software that holds the attention of the exiting visitor that normally would never return to your website.  With this software you get a second and final chance to show your website visitor you worked so hard to get why he/she should buy from you or give you their contact info for further follow-up.

There are a number of these different kinds of exit splash software out there on the market and doing my research they fall into two basic categories.

Exit grabbers — when the person moves their mouse toward the top of their browser to leave the page a hover window comes in but they can still ask out or type in something else to the address bar because they’re NOT trapped!

Exit lockers are the gray windows type popups or little chat windows which prevent you from exiting from a site and need to be closed before you can leave a page. These are annoying to me when I use the internet, especially when they are advertising something that is of no interest to me.  It takes two extra steps to click on OK on the first page, then click OK again on the second page when I all I wanted to do was exit the first page.

Currently, on the other side of the coin as a webmaster like Dave Guindon,  I would prefer another opportunity to obtain the interest of the visitors I put so much time into to bringing to my site.  So the real issue is “how do I go about taking care of this without bothering them in any way?”

Since you’ve read this far you know I’ve mentioned this a bit earlier but it’s worth repeating.  Make sure the exit splash message you present to them is something they are highly likely to be interested in.  Some of the sites I visit do quite well; if the do very well indeed I observe and learn in order to apply those tricks to my own web sites. With anything like this you must test now different offers and messages allowing your website visitors to tell you which ones are most relevant and those they like best.
