Do you think that the text on your website isn’t important? Then you should reconsider that! Website copy is the MOST significant part of your website. If you have a nonprofessional website copy then you shouldn’t expect high-quality success. It won’t even matter if you have good graphics and excellent products unless you have awesome copy. To somebody who is trying to sell their goods using their website it’s not very good news. How are you going to create even a few sales if the visitors won’t hang about on your site to discover why they ought to buy from you?

It is essential that you catch the visitors’ attention in the first few seconds of them landing there or they may leave. You NEED to get their attention. You must continue to interest them or they’ll reach for their mouse instantly leave.

Potential buyers are constantly and carefully looking for information about a certain topic. They will rapidly browse your material and observe your site, to see if it has the information they came looking for. You could lose a sale if you don’t get their attention right away.

Websites are doomed to fail if they have badly written web copy. Those that do fail usually use the following mistakes: boring text, provide information not related to their website topic, fancy or small style fonts, and or contain several spelling errors. Let’s say, your target market is moms who raise young children, for an example. They’re not going to want to read lots of text since they have young children and are busy. It’s’ more than likely that they’re going to skim through your site and pick out parts of text that seems to relate to them. Would they want to read text that’s made for scientists? Now way! Try not to use big words that they are not likely to relate to, or that they won’t understand or they will probably just leave your site.

If you write simple English they will want to read more. A website relies on grabbing visitors’ attention and keeps them there. Don’t risk your business success and reputation by using poor copy and wishing for the best. Provide them with what they would like to read and enjoy the profits you could make from them.

In the following example I will provide you with some tips as to how you can use the free keyword spy portion of the service to spy on your competitors and manage your PPC campaign risk by a significant factor.

Let’s assume that we are looking for profitable PPC ads in the forex market. Let’s log into keywordspy.com and type forex trading up top in the free search box. Keywordspy will display your top 10 paid competitors and also your top 10 organic competitors. Our focus is on the top 10 paid competitors as we are trying to identify the most successful ads. The first competitor forex.com/beginners shows only one keyword so we should probably look at the rest as they show a significant number of keywords that we can analyze.

On the top right corner there is a time machine tab and if you click on it it will provide you with the top 10 competitors for the month of Feb 2009. The next step is that we want to manually cycle thru the previous months and find out which competitors were showing up in the top 10. Once you find out the most consistent domains, than you can start drilling down and analyze their ad content, position and cost.

If you spend enough time here, I can assure you that you will be ahead of the game and you will hopefully make money faster and cut down your risk by a significant factor.

The first one and the quickest way to build links is to post some comments on authoritative blogs provided that these blogs use the ‘dofollow’ tag.   It takes some research to find these blogs, but once you create the relationship and the inventory, it could be very beneficial.

The second one is posting to forums or social networks.  Many of the social networks added the ‘nofollow’ tag so you have to research which of the networks enable the ‘dofollow’ tag.  The most obvious one that comes to mind is Squidoo.

The third one is what’s known as ‘manufactured links‘ which is a network of sites created with a sole purpose of generating links to a “money site”.  It is difficult for the search engines to detect it and sometimes it is on the border line of grey hat practices especially when the “link farm” does not add any additional value.

The fourth one is purchased or rented links.  These links are created for the sole purpose of influencing search engine rankings and serve a purpose for the publishers as well as the buyer.  From the search engine point of view it is difficult to detect these links as purchased unless the publishers explicitly annotate this on their sites.  For the most part if a link and its related anchor text is coming from a reputable site with relevant content to the buyer site than it is not an issue for the search engine.  The problem arises when there is no correlation between the publisher site and the buyer site content wise.

The fifth one and what the search engine value mostly are given links from high page rank sites like .edu or .gov.  These are also sites that have been around for a long time and have some very high quality content.  Getting links from these sites is considered very difficult and time consuming and that’s why most people shy away from this.
